two pair boots, but which one?

I need a good sturdy pair of winter boots and I know which pair I'll really get a lot of use out of. But the other one is calling my name too and I know I shouldn't buy both...or should I? Which pair would you buy if you had my dilemma? L.L. Bean Boot or the Lands' End Canvas Riding Boot?

  1. i'd go with the llbean boot. if i'm going to buy a tall boot, i'd rather go with a full leather instead of canvas. both are reasonably priced, though.

  2. If you're looking for something for tromping around in the mud and snow, I'd go with the Bean Boot. If you're just looking for a warm and fashionable shoe for drier days and the indoors, than the Land's End boot is really cute. As they have two totally different purposes, you could easily justify both :)

  3. The LL Bean boot is more utilitarian, just being practical. However, personally I'd get both.

  4. My L.L. Bean boots just like that lasted 25 years, plus they are still made in the USA.

  5. Gah! I love that canvas one. I just got these: http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/61972?pi=1006973&catalog_id=WQ&ddkey=http:LLBSearchDispatch which for some reason are in the catalog, but don't show up online unless you type in the product number. I thought they were a good mix of sturdy winter boot, and semi-stylish (because really how stylish can a duck boot get?)

  6. it is possible that i've never left a comment, but i've been reading for a little while now and felt the need to chime in!

my only note is that as great as the bean boots are, they leave your feet so darn cold! rubber is not warm. i hate to say it, but i think you should get both!

  10. i would totally go with the ll bean boot too- it think it would be a little more versatile, but is still super cute. also- if they every break, ll bean will fix or replace them for free (they used to, at least!). tough choice though!

  11. I always have a Bean boot which I wear to death on slushy days. But it's also nice to have something a little dressier. I vote both, but if just one, the Bean!

  12. I got a pair of Bean Boots a few weeks ago and I adore them. They're comfy, practical, and I love their look. If you do order a pair, you should follow their sizing instructions. I'm typically an 8 - 8.5 so I ordered a 7 and they fit great.

  13. Just last week, my wise and very practical husband said to me, (while I was trying to convince him that I should buy a pair of boots similar to the Lands End boots)"Those have NO traction! You will slip and fall on your butt!". Dang if he wasn't right. Get the Bean boots now, and the riding boots in the spring.

  14. I personally would go with the LLbean boots. I think if your looking for a winter boot the llbean boot will keep your feet dryer and will stand up to the harsh elements that come with Iowa winters. The Landsend boots wouldn't really keep you feet warm, even with a couple pairs of socks. Last year I had a pair of leather boots for my winter boots and after about 20 min of running errands in the snow and/or cold my feet were freezing! I think you would find after a little bit of trudging in the snow your feet will start to get cold. They would be great for fall or spring, but not winter. Also I'm thinking the canvas may show water marks/stains after a walk in the snow. Plus the LLbean boots are cheaper. I say get the Bean boots for your winter shoe and keep your eyes peeled for some thrifted riding boots, or check out ebay, or wait till the Landsend boots are really on sale. But thats just my 2 cents!

  15. Those canvas boots are pretty snazzy, but get the Bean boots... They do well in all kinds of weather, look great paired with jeans or skirt, and, not only that, are wicked cute :)

  16. Bean Boots! The tall boots are nice, but the canvas won't look so nice after kicking around for a few months.

  17. I vote for the Bean boots. I have been eyeing a similar pair but with a warm lining since I don't want cold feet.

  19. I'll go for the first one. I just like longer boots more. And they are really something I would by for myself.
