Yesterday and through the night we had an awfully lot of snow falling and blowing around outside. Today when I woke up I saw mounds of snow and drifts everywhere! The snow plows won't be out this way for some time and I'm content just being here at home, sewing away on my sewing machine. I am hoping I will have time later to make up a batch of delicious donuts! It's a bit of a tradition in my family to make donuts on the first real blizzard (after all the holidays are over). Since I was home schooled growing up, we didn't really have to take a snow day, but since my mom is super nice, she decided to make one for us anyway. And she'd spend all morning making batches of donuts! So of course, I have to keep that tradition alive! Here's a recipe that looks mighty tasty...and easy!

    I just saw that donuts post, too! Although, I'm afraid to fry things in oil. Such an oil-spatter mess!

    No snow here in Pittsburgh...it was 40 degrees when I woke up and most of it had melted :)

    what a beautiful and dreamy landscape. We too had a blizzard blow through, and we are not used to this much snow! Your photos capture the peace and serenity of being snowbound. So enchanting.

    I love the way you did your braids:)...I was also homeschooled and making treats with my mom when I was a girl was really awesome...now that I'm a married woman it's fun to make them for myself!!:) Glad you had a good blizzard day!!

    I've never experienced any blizzard :( only read about this in the Little House in the Prairie !!
    but this sounds like a lovely cozy tradition.
    You know I love your hair, and how fabulous these braids look (on you)... I have curly hair and never tie them up... maybe I should try...
