up the wooden hills
3.04.2011
Have you heard of Up The Wooden Hills? I just found out about it a few days ago from this gal. How perfect is this dress! I got really excited when I found her clothing. And you must go and peruse her lovely blog as well. She has exquisite taste. This dress reminds me so much of the 19th century, herb gardens and summer days. xo

thank you so much for the tip! what a lovely lovely dress!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! Thanks for the introduction.
ReplyDeleteNice dress, until I noticed the price - €170 (??). The fabric must be hand-woven and kissed by magic fairies... It makes me angry that someone is willing to pay such price for basic level cut ill fitting cotton dress. There are millions of people in Europe who work all month to earn such money, you know...
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of your blog, but this one is outrages.
iveta, i'm sorry to disagree, but i do not think it is outrageous price. the fabric for one, is of the highest quality Liberty Lawn. these prints are like nothing else you can buy. they're gorgeous and yes, also pricey. but they are well made and worth the price.
ReplyDeleteyou would be surprised of the amount of hard work that goes into drafting a pattern, grading all the sizes and then sewing a completed garment. to get a decent hourly wage, it is not outrageous to charge €170. i don't know the conversion rate to dollars, but it would seem that price is about right for this quality hand-made garment.
Dresses with sleeves and pockets always get my vote, but these are particularly lovely. So simple and pretty. And personally I think 170 euros is reasonable considering Liberty lawn can be up to £30 a metre and these dresses are clearly made in very small quantities.
