haircut?

haircut ideas {brigitte bardot}
haircut ideas {brigitte bardot}

Lately I've been toying with the idea of getting some of my hairs cut off. My hair is getting quite long now, around the middle of my back. I still want to keep growing it out, but I feel like I need something to frame my face. Perhaps like Brigitte Bardot's lovely locks? I really like that somewhat messy look and I love her longish bangs and wisps. Also, I think I may have found the perfect hair salon! It's within walking distance from my home and there is apparently a lending library and an art gallery! And looking at their pictures, there are vintage vanities being used!! Plus the owner is a trained sculpter and artist. Sounds pretty perfect doesn't it?! Especially for someone who generally gets her hairs cut less than once a year! But what do you think? I have a round face, so anything that will help diminish its roundness couldn't hurt! Plus I think having some shorter hair in the front will add to hairstyles where I pull my hair back, especially since I tend to stick my hair back a lot during the summertime. Would love your input! xo

P.S. Great post on just about what I'm thinking (love her blog).

  1. I would get my hair cut just to see the salon. Sounds like a fun place. I need layers around my face as well. It's time for my summer cut.

  2. There must be something in the air! I just cut off a bunch of my hair too. My hair was about your length, its thick and has an unruly wave to it. I was just getting to be too much. I got mine cut a little past my shoulders with face framing pieces in the front and its so much better-- sometimes a change is good!

  3. I think everyone should have bangs at some point in their lives. I had mine cut to cheek level a few months ago and now that they've grown out a bit I really love it. I forgot that when I have bangs I break out really bad on my cheeks (hey, I'm an adult this isn't supposed to happen anymore!), but I'm sure you don't have crazy skin like I do. I say go for the longish bangs! It's such a great summer hairstyle.

  4. I love the hair inspiration pictures you posted. I too am on the look out for a new style (while still keeping my hair on the longer side). It has been a year since I cut my hair so I think it is time. I'm totally stealing your hair inspiration to contemplate myself! :)

  5. Erica, I'm going to try and take pictures when I go. I was just looking around on the internet the other day, trying to find a place that was nearby and wham! Dream salon just a short walk away!

    Heather, that sounds really cute! I haven't had a haircut since last summer, so I think it's about time! I'm really itching for something a little different too!

    Chandra, I did have bangs a few times in my life, though they weren't good! I cut them myself, if that gives you any idea... Once when I was 11-15 and then maybe in my early 20s, can't remember, but they were choppy and awful. I think I've learned my lesson that if I want any sort of drastic cut (or any cut) I go to the professionals! And actually I do have awful skin, even though I'm an adult too. I still get acne, though it's mostly due to hormonal and I am probably allergic to a lot of things. Gahh, don't get me started on adult acne, I hate it!

    Janelle, I don't mind at all if you want to use these images of Brigitte Bardot for inspiration! I think a lot of people are inspired by her hair. It's so perfect! I actually printed off the images and am planning to bring them to the salon with me. That is one thing I've learned over the years about getting my hair cut. The only times it ever looks good is when I bring a photograph of the style I want! Good luck!

  6. Hi Anna! These photos are great inspiration. Your hair is so beautiful, I'm sure whatever you do with it will look gorgeous. I'm voting for the layering, that'll liven up your hair, while still keeping most of the length. Some bangs is always fun, too!

  7. Go for it!!! As you've probably seen on FB, I chopped mine yesterday. Gotta say that it's probably the most exciting thing I've done with my hair in a long time and well worth it! ;) I think you'd look lovely with the longer, wispier BB style. I'm finding too that the shorter front locks make it less fussy--don't have to constantly push my hair out of the way! ;)

  8. go for it Anna!! You will look great!! Plus, the bangs are so much fun to play with! The only problem for me when I had bangs was that I couldn't see myself without them anymore :) Looking forward to seeing what you decide, anyway you have my support! xoxo

  9. Elise, thank you for your comment! I will probably get some layers. But i'm also toying with just keeping my hair one length and then more layers around my face. hm...

    Casey, I was also thinking the same thing about less work with bangs. Though I guess one might think it is more work, depending on how you like your bangs!

    Cathy, thank you!! It's good to have your vote of confidence! I am pretty sure I'm going to be getting these bangs. I already have these pictures printed out and waiting patiently in my purse for when I make that hair appointment! Toying with the idea of waiting until my birthday to get it cut! :)

  10. I always want to change something with my hair when the season changes! I'm glad you're keeping it mostly long - you style it and braid it so beautifully.

    Your salon sounds DREAMY. I always feel out of place in the salons I go to (once a year or less!!).

  12. Hi, Rubi! Thanks for commenting! I will let you know how the cut goes when I go! I am thinking next month sometime. I do hope it's as cute as it looks in the pictures! :)

  13. Hi, Anna. You have great hair, no matter the style. It's a conundrum, though: you look very cute in the post with the striped shirt, flats, eye make up and bright lipstick. So, contrary to the quiet clothing designs you sew, i think you may have a secret inner (natural) "hair spray" or "pretty in pink" teen within. It's very lovely!!
    enjoy your youth!

  14. Hi, Sara! Thank you! I actually just got my haircut yesterday and am excited to share with you all here on my blog very soon! Just need to find some time to take better pictures. It is a change, but I'm loving it! It's good to have a bit of a style change now and then, even if only just a little change. ;)
