pattern drafting and knitting.
1.15.2010
While I was away house-sitting, I decided to spend my time learning to draft patterns. I've been meaning to do this for years, but all I really needed to do was set some time aside. I used this book and it was super helpful. Next I'm going to grade the pattern and make it up in some nicer fabric to sell. I'll probably set up an Etsy shop or Big Cartel. I'm leaning more towards Etsy, though...
Also knitted up the Red Riding Hood pattern I found for free on Ravelry. Super easy to knit and I adore it! Of course I make it just as the snow is beginning to melt. Argh. I kind of hope it gets colder just so I can wear it. Hah!

ReplyDeleteThe dress is adorable! I have been <3-ing tucks and pleats so much lately... Everything I made (well, nearly) for school this past semester got the treatment.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see more of your patternmaking endeavors (and I'm more than a little surprised - for some reason I've been picturing you drafting patterns for ages!), and.... I'd be really interested to see a review of that book, from someone like you who is obviously not a novice when it comes to sewing and working with patterns!

ReplyDeleteI've already said it, but I'll reiterate: your dress is so pretty! Now I'm itching to sit down and try my hand at using that book. ;) I just love seeing whatever new things you've sewn; you have such a lovely aesthetic and eye for detail!
ReplyDeleteThat knit cap is too cute!!! If only it hadn't started to get warm here; I'd knit one myself! ;)
